MONICA POTTER!

I'm from and currently live in Rochester, New York and recently graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in fine arts studio.

in the film Swiss Army Man elements of humor, moments of contemplation and self discovery, and  do-it-yourself creativity and resourcefulness all coalesce to create an immersive and emotional adventure. my work is the same way.

I’m a patchwork of every person I’ve known, every piece of media I’ve consumed, every memory I’ve had. in my work I break down, reorganize, and layer these things. I’m trying to piece together who I am and what I’ve been dealt. by borrowing pieces of other people's stories I’m able to make a little bit more sense out of my own and share it through my art. from there, it's up to the viewer to take what they want from my story to help make sense of theirs and keep the cycle going.

“just do the steps that you've been shown by everyone you've ever known until the dance becomes your very own... into a dancer you have grown from a seed somebody else has thrown, go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own."  - Jackson Browne

"...even the greatest works of art ever created mean almost nothing individually. If a

work of art inspires another work of art, I think it has fulfilled its highest duty." - Jeff Tweedy

"I want to speak at an intimate decibel with the precision of an infinite decimal to listen up and send back a true echo of something forever felt but never heard." - Yoni Wolf
